Although it hasn’t garnered a lot of attention, it’s a big weekend for two Premier League legends, as both Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard make their debuts for their new MLS clubs.
Ladbrokes have decided to launch off some special markets regarding Gerrard’s time with the LA Galaxy and he is a 5/2 quote to find the back of the net on Saturday when he makes his debut against Club America in the International Champions Cup.
Punters can also back both Lampard and Gerrard to score in the anticipated clash between the Galaxy and Lampard’s new club New York City on August 25th.
Ladbrokes has had a poke at Gerrard’s less than perfect disciplinary record too. He was sent off seven times for Liverpool during his career and is priced at 7/4 to see red during his first MLS season, of which there are thirteen games remaining.
The bookmaker has set a 4.5 goal line on him this season for a price of 5/6. In an odd market offering, there is a 40/1 price on Gerrard to pick up a booking for a tackle on Lampard in that game against New York City.
The former England captain is a 5/1 to achieve something that he could never do in his long career with Liverpool, and that is win the league title. The Galaxy are well primed for a title defence in the MLS this season, so perhaps his time will finally come.
