Southampton head back to Holland again after taking a pre-season tour out there, a successful one at that. After friendly wins over Groningen and Feyenoord, Southampton go back to Holland for business this time as they head to Arnhem to take on Vitesse in the second leg of the Europa League third qualifying round.
The Saints are in full control of the tie as well after having posted a 3-0 victory at St Mary’s in which the Premier League side looked to be pretty sharp for their first competitive match of the term.
That was Southampton’s first win in a European match since back in 1981 so that was a long time coming. They haven’t actually won any of their last seven away matches (all competitions) so will be happy enough to take a narrow win.
The Saints are 5/4 to win on Thursday, with Vitesse at 2/1. There were so many weaknesses in the Vitesse set up that the Dutch club aren’t going to get back into this. They have faced English sides five times before now and have lost four, drawn one and have failed to score a single goal in any of those games.
The Saints should kill off the tie in a low key affair. Should it end up being 0-0 Bookmaker Bet365 will refund losing stakes on pre-match correct score, scorecast and half time/full time markets.
