England’s batsmen were running scared of Australia’s pace bowler Mitchell Johnson the last time the two nations duelled for the Ashes.
The crowning moment for Johnson in that series came in the second test at the Adelaide Oval when he posted 7/40 and had England cowering. He finished the last Ashes series with 37 wickets at an average of just under 14 runs per wicket.
That was just part of Australia’s crushing 5-0 series win over the English. Now it is back to England for the 2015 Ashes and Johnson is looking determined to destroy England again.
Cricket Betting Offer – Johnson is 5/2 favourite at Bet365 to be Australia’s Top Bowler at the Ashes 2015, although, the last time he toured England back in 2009, he went for some fairly expensive figures.
So it will be interesting to see how he goes out of the blocks. It’s more than a fair shout that Australia will breeze their way to the Ashes, but will Mitchell be at the forefront of the destruction? Mitchell Starc is a 3/1 quote, with John Hazelwood and Ryan Harris at 4/1 to finish the series at top Aussie bowler.
