Messi out but Barcelona still 3/1 favourites for Champions League

What effect will the loss of Lionel Messi have on Barcelona’s hopes of claiming silverware this season, particularly in the UEFA Champions League?

The Catalan giants were rocked on the weekend with the news that Messi will be out for a couple of months after he picked up a knee injury during their 2-1 win over Las Palmas. Messi has a tear in his internal collateral ligament. So Barcelona are going to have to live without him for a while and boss Luis Enrique has insisted that they won’t change their style.

So Barcelona will be sticking to what they know and of course they still have Luis Suarez and Neymar. Barcelona are trading still as outright favourites to win the UEFA Champions League this season, up at a price of 3/1 with Coral to become the first club to win back to back titles in the competition.

Barcelona are 11/8 now to reach the final of the UEFA Champions League and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has taken over as 11/10 favourite to be the top goalscorer in this season’s competition, with Madrid at 11/2 to win outright and Bayern Munich just shorter at a 4/1 poke.

There are some big UEFA Champions League matches coming this week and you can earn a some bonus free bets through Coral. Open an account and place your first bet of a four-team (or bigger) acca and the bookmaker will give you five free acca bets back! The value of the Free Bets will match the first bet from £5 to £20.
