The FedExCup play offs on the PGA tour continue with the Deutsche Bank from TPC Boston this week. After skipping on the first event, last week’s Barclays, Rory McIlroy is back in action this week as he tries to stake his claim for the FedExCup title and the huge prize money.
McIlroy won at TPC Boston back in 2012 and he put a T5 on the board here last season. This will be his first appearance since having to withdrawal from the US PGA because of his ankle. How will that stand up this week? He goes as 15/2 joint second favourite with Coral.
Jason Day, with three wins in his last four is the clear form man and 6/1 to land the Deutsche Bank. He has created three top ten finishes at TPC Boston before and if you are looking at players carrying form over from Plainfield last week like Day, then you can’t go wrong with Henrik Stenson after his second place finish there, Dustin Johnson who was a par-4 scoring machine and led the field in driving distance and Bubba Watson who pulled out everything for a solo third with some immense scrambling.
So it is all eyes down again. Wait, no mention of Jordan Spieth? He is up there at the same mark at McIlroy. He had a poor week at the Barclays by his standards but carded a T4 on his TPC Boston debut in 2013. Surely he can’t have two bad weeks in a row can he?
