Real Madrid head to Anfield Wednesday night heavy favourites to take all 3 points against a poor Liverpool side. Liverpool faced QPR on Sunday which they scraped a 3-2 win right at the depth but looked poor throughout the game.
Real Madrid went to Levante on Saturday and produced an amazing 5-0 victory with Ronaldo grabbing a brace. Liverpool have won and lost their previous Champions League games this season compared to Madrid who have got maximum points from their campaign. Gareth Bale is a doubt for the tie which the European champions are 4/5 favourites. A Real statement did not disclose how long they expect the Welsh forward to be out for, saying: “His progress will be monitored.”
After watching how poorly Liverpool defended against a QPR side tipped for relegation it would be safe to say Madrid will score a few goals here. Having Moreno, Lovren, Skrtel and Johnson is not going to have Real’s Galacticos quaking in their boots. If QPR had a tiny bit more quality, who were a bit more focussed and determined I think they would have taken all 3 points on Sunday.
Liverpool don’t have much of an attacking threat since the departure of Suarez with Balotelli having an awful start to his career in red. If as expected Madrid can stop the speed of Sterling, they will keep a clean sheet and will just hope for one of their many goal scorers to be on form. Between Ronaldo, Rodriguez and Isco Madrid can walk all over Liverpool who in contrast have Glen Johnson in their defence. Put this together with the fact Madrid have had an extra day to prepare for the game.
