There are various types of bets that you can place in sports betting, including straight wagers, futures wagers, money lines, etc. There is also another category of sports bets, known as parlay and teaser bets.
These bets are quite similar to each other in the sense that each are placed on more than one game on the same betting slip, and offer much higher payouts compared to the traditional bets But even with the increased odds, it might not be worth it, as the risk involved is huge and increases with each additional bet placed This is because even a single wrong outcome means losing the entire bet.
Parlays are also known as an accumulator, as they are based on the accumulated results of several games. Two or more individual wagers are linked together in one single wager and the bet wins only if all those wagers are won.
Teasers are also similar to a parlay bet, except for one difference relating to the point spread. You can move the point spreads in your favour for any particular game in exchange for a lower payout.
With both these bets, in the case of one or more games resulting in a tie, the number of games or teams reduces and so do the odds. For example, if you’ve placed a 6-team parlay, and two result in a tie, then it would pay as a 4-team parlay, as the other 2 results are ignored. This would mean a decreased number of teams and a decreased payout. If one match is tied in a 2 team parlay bet then the bet automatically reverts to being a straight bet and payouts are given accordingly.
As you wager at an online sportsbook this season, make sure not to forget the parlay and teaser bets.
