There was some market movement on Sunday at bookmakers in reaction to Manchester United landing the highest profile move of the summer transfer window yet.
The capture of World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich adds a tremendously influential presence to the midfield of Manchester United.
The Red Devils swooped and lured Schweinsteiger away after spending 17 years with the Bundesliga giants. The attraction of a new challenge for the player helped seal the deal.
Schweinsteiger’s arrival adds to Memphis Depay and the likely arrival of Torino defender Matteo Darmian too, so Louis van Gaal is looking like he means business for next season’s title assault.
Most bookmakers responded to the Schweinsteiger news by trimming the odds on Manchester United to win the Premier League title in to 5/1, some going to 4/1. However, bookmaker Coral have stood pat at the moment with their industry leading odds of 6/1 on the title for United.
So that should be snapped up while it can be before they shift their odds too. Chelse remain outright favourites at 8/5, with Man City at 12/5 and Arsenal 4/1.
