Thiago Silva and Neymar will be missing in action for Brazil in the first semi-final of the 2014 World Cup, and they will no doubt he hard to replace. Brazil’s star striker was injured in the quarter final against Colombia and Silva was suspended for one match after receiving a second yellow card.
On the other hand, German coach Joachim Loew has said all 22 players will be fit and ready to play in this do-or-die encounter, which is great news if you’re a German fan, they probably had their best side on the pitch in their quarter-final game against France with Lahm to play his more typical right defensive role.
Host nation Brazil went into the World Cup as odds on favorites to win the tournament. It could be said they failed to live up to some of the hype in the first four matches but they seem to have hit their stride in a hard fought win against the Colombians getting themselves two goals without having to rely on Neymar to bail them out. If they are to win their semi final encounter against Germany they will be required to do the same thing again.
In the head to head matchups between the two sides it is Brazil that have typically dominated the proceedings, winning five of the previous nine matches. With that being said, it was Germany that won their last encounter, a 2011 friendly in Stuttgart.
Coral is offering 2/1 for Germany to win. Given the loss of Silva and Neymar, it very much swings things in the favor of 2010 semi-finalists Germany who will be looking to do at least one better in this World Cup campaign.
Brazil vs Germany prediction: Germany 1-0. You can get 7/1 betting this exact score at Coral
