William Hill have quoted a price of 6/1 on incumbent FIFA President Sepp Blatter to win the next election to be head of the world football governing body.
The world of football was celebrating when Blatter announced recently that he would be stepping down, but now it seems that he hasn’t actually resigned, and is ready to leave his fate in the hands of the FIFA congress. Blatter, who has come through the recent FIFA scandals unscathed still seems willing to hang around if he gets votes in an election.
When the announcement of him stepping down happened, he called for an extraordinary meeting of executives to get a new President in place as quickly as possible with that meeting due to be towards the end of the year.
With names like David Ginola and Luis Figo having been touted around, the real favourite to win the next FIFA election is Jordan’s Prince Ali bin Hussein who is a 6/4 quote.
Hussein did have enough votes in the first round of the recent election to carry on to the next round of votes, but he pulled out because he knew it wasn’t going to be close. Current UEFA President Michel Platini is an 11/4 quote to get the top job in world football.
