Arsenal will be playing Tottenham in the local North London derby today. With both teams struggling for consistency so far this season it makes it a tough one to predict with a great deal of certainty. Last week West Brom got a surprise 1-0 win against Tottenham and Arsenal beat Aston Villa 3-0 in what was Villa’s first loss of the season.
Danny Welbeck scored his first goal for Arsenal against Villa and with Arsenal’s apparent struggle in scoring goals this season, they will definitely need Welbeck to perform like he did the previous week. It could kickstart his campaign after missing good opportunities to score in the Manchester City and Dortmund fixtures.
With Mesut Ozil playing behind him, Welbeck should be getting better ball delivered to him they really linked up well in the Villa game. Although with Aaron Ramsey set to return in this game, Ozil could be played on the left with Alexis Sanchez on the right.
It is worth mentioning that the Gunners have a good record against the Spurs at home having won their last four encounters with two of those wins being 5-2 blowouts. If Mauricio Pochettino’s side win this fixture they will actually overtake Arsenal. Not that they would be needing any extra motivation for getting up for this game.
With that being said, it’s hard to see Arsenal not wining this fixture. The Spur’s loss to West Brom speaks volumes about how well they are going this season. You would think that if Arsene Wenger’s men turn up to play they should have a bit too much class to get the job done despite the fact that they lost their recent League Cup game while the Spurs won. You can get odds of 5/6 at William Hill for an Arsenal win.
