Arsenal v Aston Villa – FA Cup Final Betting Preview

Arsenal go into tomorrow’s FA Cup Final at Wembley as favourites to retain the FA Cup trophy that they won last season 3-2 against Hull City.

This time they face an Aston Villa side that comfortably disposed of Liverpool in the semi-finals. The Villains now managed under Tim Sherwood have the potential to make this an enthralling encounter at Wembley Stadium.

With the last ten FA Cup finals having been won by no more than a one goal margin, this will probably be a very close game. Arsenal do have the upper hand though, smashing Villa 5-0 at home and 0-3 away in the league this season.

Villa however have produced some fantastic form in the cup this season beating the likes of Liverpool, West Brom and Leicester on route to the Final.

Team News

Arsenal – Will be without Danny Welbeck due to a knee injury and Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy are both unlikely to feature having been out with long term injuries.

Arsene Wenger has one very important decision to make up front, and that is whether to stick with first-choice striker Olivier Giroud or play Theo Walcott, who scored a hat-trick on the final day of the season against West Brom. Jack Wilshere also played well in that game and is available to start along with fit-again Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Aston Villa – Goalkeeper Shay Given could miss the game due to a groin injury, which would mean that Brad Guzan would deputize.

Kieran Richardson should be back after missing out at the weekend and Nathan Baker who made his first appearance since January against Burnley will be pushing for a start at Wembley. Gabriel Agbonlahor is likely to partner Christian Benteke up-front, who this week has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

Even though Arsenal has been faltering a bit lately and even though they only managed to scrape past Reading 2-1 after extra time in the semi final, I still fancy Arsenal to take this. Recent history in FA Cup final’s would suggest that this will be a close game and Villa under manager Tim Sherwood have shown enough good Cup form to make it close. But Arsenal with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla has class all over the pitch and should pull away in the end.
