Ladbrokes are really focusing in hard on the Australian Open 2016 which starts on Monday at Melbourne Park. They have rolled out a couple of Price Boost Betting Offers on two of the big guns at the event, one each from the men’s and women’s draw.
While they have tossed out a 5/6 price boost on Novak Djokovic to win the men’s event outright, they have raised Victoria Azarenka from 9/2 to 5/1.
The Azarenka deal looks a great value wager to roll with. The former world number one had a rough season last term trying to get back to full fitness from injuries and illnesses.
That having been said, the 26 year old Belarusian is one of the top players in the field for the Australian Open and she has a bit of an affinity with Melbourne Park.
She is likely to be on a more even playing field at the start of the season as opposed to having any tiredness and fitness problems creeping in by the time Roland Garros and Wimbledon runs around. She also, importantly, won the Australian Open crown in consecutive seasons in 2012 and 2013. So she has prior form here.
At the back end of last year she went to the quarterfinals of both Wimbledon and the US Open, suggesting that she’s close to getting back on top and Azarenka has won 35 of her last 39 matches played in Australia. She’s not a seed in this year’s draw, but she’s not to be counted out!
