The final of the UEFA U21 European Championships will be contested on Friday out in Poland. The tournament draws to a conclusion with Spain’s youngsters taking on the Germans in what should be a fantastic match, full of high quality and attacking intent.
Spain have won all of their matches at the tournament so far, averaging three goals per game along the way and they will be backed to have the firepower to take down the Germans. It is Spain who are going into the final as favourites after having beaten Italy 3-1 in the semi finals, thanks to a hattrick from Saul Niguez.
The Spaniards are stacked with attacking class and they haven’t skipped a beat or taken their foot off the gas at any point in the Championships so far. As one of the tournament’s betting favourites before a single ball was kicked in anger at the event, they are living up to exception but they won’t get an easy game against the Germans.
Germany had a big battle on their hands in their semi final match as they were taken all the way to a penalty shoot out by England’s Young Lions. There was a sense of inevitability about the result of that though, with the Germans winning through to reach the Final of the U21 Championships for just the third time. They have shown good attacking intent through the tournament.
Germany have won the tournament just once before in its history but for Spain, if they were to win on Friday, then they would join Italy as the joint-most successful side in the history of the tournament with five titles. The two nations have met four times before in the U21 European Championships and Spain lead that head to head W2 D1 L1, winning the most recent clash, in the 2013 group stage, 1-0.
