All eyes will be on Old Trafford on Sunday for the big Man Utd v Liverpool showdown in the Premier League. These two bitter rivals will clash for the second time this season in the top flight and fans will be hoping for more of a spectacle than the 0-0 draw which played itself out when the two met at Anfield back in October. Liverpool claimed 65% of possession in that match but they could not find a way to break through the packed United defence. Will Liverpool’s great attack fare better on Sunday?
The Reds have lost 11 of their last 14 Premier League visits to Old Trafford so they don’t exactly have form there. This will be the 50th meeting between these two sides in the Premier League and there is a big three points up for grabs as well. Liverpool have been enjoying a great season and they sit as the main contenders to the supremacy of Chelsea in the Premier League title race. That having been said, the Reds go off this weekend in second place and five points behind the Blues.
So Liverpool need maximum points to at least keep up the pressure on the Blues who play at Leicester on Saturday. If Jurgen Klopp’s men suffer a loss in this one then they will see Manchester United move to within two points of them in the league standings. That would be a huge fillip for the Red Devils, especially after the low-key start that they produced in the top flight this season, but now the key players like Pogba are starting to drive them forward.
The Red Devils are on a six match winning streak in the Premier League at the moment and Manchester City are the only ones to have toppled them at Old Trafford this season. So Liverpool will have a tough time on their hands, but the form of the Reds has been pretty solid all season, the weight of their attacking coming to the good time and time again for them. So who will be landing the precious three points on Sunday? Will there be another draw on the cards between them?
