It’s showdown time on Saturday in the Rugby World Cup 2015 in Pool A as Wales v Australia kicks off. Both nations go into the game sat on thirteen points and both having already secured progress to the quarter finals of the tournament courtesy of victories over host nation England.
So now this game just becomes a straight shootout for top spot in the group and that could end up being pretty important because the runner up from Pool A will have to face the South African heavyweights in the quarter finals. Winning Pool A would instead see a quarter final against either Scotland or Japan.
Australia have won the last ten matches on the bounce against Wales though and have lost just one of the last fourteen (W12 D1 L1) against the Dragons. It’s a pretty phenomenal running record however, Wales have only lost the last nine meetings with the Wallabies by nine points of fewer.
So this is expected to be another pretty tight showdown although Australia are looking like a genuinely massive title contenders, more so than the battling Welsh.
